Riding The Mountains

A perfect way to be close to the horses and the great outdoors. Plus, having access to use the ranch facilities and the options to choose any activity you are interested in. How awesome is that?
September is one of the best month to ride in the mountains. Silver Spur Trials amazing mountain horses will take you safe up the trails and make it a trip to be remembered.

One of BC's best kept secret, hidden in the Mabel Lake Valley surrounded by mountains and a pristine wilderness, check us out!

Silver Spur Trails Wilderness Ranch takes guests and staff to a  beautiful secluded mountain lake for fishing. This is B.C. at it's best! Visit us at the ranch for a horseback ride or for a tipi adventure! Ranch vacations start with a 24-hour package but the Ranch-Stay can be extended to your likeing.
Hope to see you at the ranch!

Working at the ranch

Simple living
Planning for winter
Looking after guests and riding the mountains is only a part of life at Silver Spur Trails Wilderness Guest Ranch. The cooler nights in September remind us to get the firewood ready for winter.
The ranch uses gravity fed water for  irrigation. With no rain for weeks the irrigation needs some maintenance. Another job for Yrene to look into.
Come and book a "Work and Play" package with us, you won't regret it.

Day Ranch Adventures

The 1-day or half-day ranch adventure at Silver Spur Trails is a great mini getaway.
The 1-hour or 2-hour mountain trail ride will give you a good taste of of the wilderness surrounding the ranch. The trail leads through large, old growth forests and rugged terrain. Soon you will trust your sure footed mountain horse and fully enjoy the adventure and the nature surrounding you. Moose Mountain is the place to stop for a while to take in the view and click some picture memories. There is a good chance to see some wildlife on this ride.
Back at the ranch, there are some other excitements waiting for you. Always wanted to know how to shoot with a bow and arrow? Archery at the ranch is like going back in time. After some hard practice, everyone will boost their archery skills. Target shooting with an air rifle is also a good way to spend some time.
Enjoy a barbeque dinner on the camp fire, followed by Cowboy coffee and marshmallows. Get your Cowboy spirit out and share some trail stories while sitting around the camp fire.

The signs of spring are everywhere at Silver Spur Trails. The air in the house is filled with the sweet smell of the lilies and outside are the daffodils and tullips in bloom. Today I spotted the first hummingbird buzzing around near the empty feeders in the front of the house. This means that it's time to get them filled up and hang the Geranium baskets for the little birds to get some feed.

Don't miss a visit to Silver Spur Trails Wilderness Ranch this spring, either for an adventure horseback ride or for a memorable overnight getaway. We have something for everybody. Please check out our tipi lodges (camp) for a group getaway. For more information please contact the ranch.

Michaela is from Germany and is a staff member at Silver Spur Trails this season. Not only is Michaela an experienced horse woman, she is also a hard worker helping with all ranch tasks. Today she was busy pruning the fruit trees. Silver Spur Trails has it's own orchard with apple, pear, cherry and plum trees, all organic.
Spring is also the time to get the vegetable garden ready for planting and the  berry bushes have to be pruned. The garlic we planted in fall is peaking out and lets us hope for a good crop.
We like to share our sustainable and healthy lifestyle  with our guests and visitors to the ranch.

Business Showcase Lumby BC

Silver Spur Trails was taking part on the Business Showcase in Lumby yesterday with an amazing turnout. The Cowboy Chili and Cowboy cookies was a big hit and the pot was empty before the end of the event.
There was a huge interest in our Ranch Vacations and Horse Riding Packages as well as the Tipi Adventures and Horse Pack Trips. Many locals didn't know that we existed and were excited about having a guest ranch like ours right in their community.
The winner of our contest for a 2-hour mountain ride is John Mac Dougall, congratulation. We are looking forward to take you on a ride!

Please check out our Website for more information about the ranch and the adventures we offer.
